BlueCollar vs Wakeman

Both answer the calls you miss, say they are an AI, read a safety script on a gas leak, and let you keep your number. Wakeman stops at the phone and hands jobs to Jobber. BlueCollar carries on into quotes, invoices, payments and the CRM. If you already run on Jobber and only want the receptionist, Wakeman’s no-card trial is the easier first step. If you want one app for the phone and the office, that is what BlueCollar is.

Side by side

Price

BlueCollar
Starter $189/mo (500 minutes, 1,000 texts, you + 1 technician). Growth $349 (1,000 minutes, 5 people, 3 lines). Pro $599 (1,500 minutes, unlimited people, 5 lines). Extra minutes $0.15/min, published. You set a monthly limit. Spam is never billed.
Wakeman
After Hours $149/mo (300 minutes, then 59¢/min; answers only when you are closed). Front Desk $349 (750 minutes, then 39¢/min; day and night). Dispatch $829 (2,000 minutes, then 29¢/min). Owner-set spend limit; past it, calls ring the on-call phone. Spam is never billed.

What’s included

BlueCollar
The AI receptionist and the office behind it: CRM with equipment history, good/better/best quotes, invoices with pay-by-text, deposits, memberships, QuickBooks Online sync, technician logins, time tracking with GPS, an “on my way” link, a reviews hub, a free Pro Page, a Boost ads wallet, and an AI assistant that runs the app by voice or text.
Wakeman
An AI receptionist. No CRM, quotes, invoices, payments, memberships, QuickBooks, customer texting or outbound calls.

Phone number

BlueCollar
Keep your number. Your own local AI number is live in minutes; one carrier code sends only the calls you miss to it, and one code undoes it.
Wakeman
Keep your number; forward missed calls to Wakeman (*71 on most carriers).

Urgent calls

BlueCollar
Gas, carbon monoxide, fire or smoke, water near electrical, flooding and sewage get a safety script, and the receptionist rings and texts you during the call. A safety net, not 911.
Wakeman
Six hazards get a safety script, and the receptionist rings the on-call phone during the call.

Booking

BlueCollar
Books real arrival windows on the call once you turn booking on. Off by default. Busy times from your calendar block it.
Wakeman
Off until you enable it. Offers only windows you set. Writes the job into Jobber only: no ServiceTitan, and Housecall Pro is listed as “not yet”.

Beyond the phone

BlueCollar
Yes: quotes, invoices, payments, deposits, memberships, QuickBooks Online, team logins, time tracking, reviews. The receptionist’s notes land in the same CRM.
Wakeman
No. The job goes to Jobber, or to you.

Built for

BlueCollar
One-truck to small-crew HVAC, plumbing and electrical shops that want the phone and the office in one app. English only. US only.
Wakeman
Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing and restoration shops with 2–15 trucks. English only. US only.

How you start

BlueCollar
14-day free trial on Starter with a card on file. Hear it answer as you first, at /try, with no signup.
Wakeman
14 days or 500 minutes free, no card. 30-day refund on the first month.

Choose BlueCollar if

You want quotes, invoices, payments and the customer’s history in the same app the receptionist writes into.
You are not on Jobber, or you want to stop paying for a separate FSM.
You want the receptionist to text customers (confirmations, “on my way”, invoices) and not only answer.
You want published overage ($0.15/min) and a limit you set yourself.

Choose Wakeman if

You already run on Jobber and want jobs written straight into it. BlueCollar does not write to Jobber.
You want to try without a card on file. Wakeman’s trial takes none; BlueCollar’s Starter trial takes a card and does not charge it for 14 days.
You have 5–15 trucks and want an after-hours-only plan at $149.
You want a USPS address check on every call. BlueCollar checks addresses against the US Census geocoder, which is good for streets and ZIPs but is not USPS.

Questions people ask

Does either one pretend to be a person?

No. Both tell the caller they are an AI on every call. BlueCollar: Every AI-answered call opens with the business’s name, that it is their AI assistant, and that the call may be recorded. Wakeman publishes a mandatory AI and recording notice too.

What happens on a gas leak or a flooded basement?

Both read a safety script and reach a person during the call. BlueCollar rings and texts the owner; Wakeman rings the on-call phone. Neither replaces 911, and both say so.

Do I lose my number?

No, with either. You keep your number and forward only the calls you miss. On BlueCollar that is one carrier code to turn on and one to undo.

What does a missed call actually cost?

Both bill by the minute past the included allowance: Wakeman 29–59¢ depending on plan, BlueCollar $0.15. A five-minute call past the allowance is $1.45 to $2.95 on Wakeman and $0.75 on BlueCollar.
