BlueCollar vs Quo (formerly OpenPhone)

These are different tools that get shopped together. Quo is a business phone system: numbers, shared inbox, call flows, recording, and an AI receptionist called Sona that takes a message, answers a FAQ or texts a scheduling link. It does not book the job. BlueCollar is an AI receptionist that books the job and then runs the office behind it. Most shops pairing Quo with an FSM like Jobber land around $170–230 a month before Sona’s call credits; BlueCollar’s Starter is $189 with the office included.

Side by side

Price

BlueCollar
Starter $189/mo (500 minutes, 1,000 texts, you + 1 technician). Growth $349 (1,000 minutes, 5 people, 3 lines). Pro $599 (1,500 minutes, unlimited people, 5 lines). Extra minutes $0.15/min, published. You set a monthly limit. Spam is never billed.
Quo
Starter $19, Business $27, Scale $36 per user per month billed annually (monthly billing costs more). One number per user; extra numbers $5/mo. Sona is billed in credits: 1,000 free a month (10 calls at 100 credits each), then $25 (40 calls), $49 (100), $99 (250) or $199 (600) a month, with overage from $1.00 down to $0.45 a call.

What’s included

BlueCollar
The AI receptionist and the office behind it: CRM with equipment history, good/better/best quotes, invoices with pay-by-text, deposits, memberships, QuickBooks Online sync, technician logins, time tracking with GPS, an “on my way” link, a reviews hub, a free Pro Page, a Boost ads wallet, and an AI assistant that runs the app by voice or text.
Quo
Unlimited US and Canada calling and texting, shared inbox, call flows, call recording, transcripts, desktop and mobile apps. Sona answers inbound calls only.

Phone number

BlueCollar
Keep your number. Your own local AI number is live in minutes; one carrier code sends only the calls you miss to it, and one code undoes it.
Quo
A Quo number for each user, more at $5/mo each. The phone system is the product, so your team’s calls run through it.

Urgent calls

BlueCollar
Gas, carbon monoxide, fire or smoke, water near electrical, flooding and sewage get a safety script, and the receptionist rings and texts you during the call. A safety net, not 911.
Quo
No hazard scripts are published. Sona can transfer the call to a person on your team, take a message, or capture the lead’s details.

Booking

BlueCollar
Books real arrival windows on the call once you turn booking on. Off by default. Busy times from your calendar block it.
Quo
Sona does not book jobs. It can text a scheduling link during the call.

Beyond the phone

BlueCollar
Yes: quotes, invoices, payments, deposits, memberships, QuickBooks Online, team logins, time tracking, reviews. The receptionist’s notes land in the same CRM.
Quo
Not a field-service tool. Integrates with Jobber, HubSpot and Zapier, and offers MCP for ChatGPT and Claude.

Built for

BlueCollar
One-truck to small-crew HVAC, plumbing and electrical shops that want the phone and the office in one app. English only. US only.
Quo
Teams that want a shared business phone; home services is one of its markets. 90,000+ businesses. Sona speaks English, Spanish and French, but cannot switch language mid-call.

How you start

BlueCollar
14-day free trial on Starter with a card on file. Hear it answer as you first, at /try, with no signup.
Quo
7-day trial.

Choose BlueCollar if

You want the call turned into a booked job, not a message to call back.
You are a one-truck to small-crew shop and would rather not pay per user for a phone system plus an FSM.
You want a safety script and a ring-through on a gas leak or a flood.
You want quotes, invoices and payments in the same app as the receptionist.

Choose Quo if

You need Spanish or French answered. BlueCollar is English only.
You have a team that needs a shared inbox, call flows, desktop apps and recording for human-answered calls. BlueCollar is not a team phone system.
You want unlimited calling and texting for people on your team at $19–36 a seat.
You already use Jobber or HubSpot and want the phone layer to sit on top of it.

Questions people ask

Can Sona book a job?

Not on its own pages as of October 5, 2026: it takes messages, answers FAQs, captures lead details, transfers, and can text a scheduling link. BlueCollar books an arrival window on the call once booking is turned on.

What does a month of answered calls cost on each?

Quo bills Sona by the call: 10 free, then $25 for 40, $49 for 100, and so on, with $0.45–$1.00 per call past the pack. BlueCollar bills by the minute: 500 included on Starter, then $0.15/min.

Could I use both?

Yes. Quo as the team’s phone and BlueCollar on the calls that go unanswered: forward missed calls from your Quo number to your BlueCollar line with a call-flow rule or a carrier code.
