CALL RECORDING

How we handle call recording

What the receptionist says, what it keeps, and what it drops. Last updated October 5, 2026.

Every call opens with the notice

Before a caller is asked anything, the receptionist says the business’s name, that it is their AI assistant, and that the call may be recorded. For example: “Hi, you’ve reached Summit Plumbing. I’m their AI assistant, and this call may be recorded. How can I help?”
If a caller asks whether they are talking to a person, the receptionist says plainly that it is the AI assistant. It never claims to be human.

If a caller does not want to be recorded

A caller who says they do not want to be recorded is told, straight away, that no transcript of the call will be kept. From then on nothing they say is kept as a transcript, and what was captured before they said so is dropped when the call ends.
The receptionist then just notes their name, a callback number and what they need, so someone at the business can call them back.

What is kept

For a call that was not declined: a transcript of the call and the details taken on it (name, callback number, service address, the problem, and the booking if one was made). The business sees these in its BlueCollar app, as the call’s record and as a job.
No voiceprints. A returning caller is recognised by their phone number only, never by their voice.
The receptionist cannot take a payment. It has no payment tool: it can note a lead, check availability, book a window, verify an address and reach the owner, nothing else. Invoices are paid through a pay-by-text link, never on the call.

Deleting a record

The business, or a caller, can ask for a call’s record to be deleted by emailing support@bluecollarapp.ai. Tell us the business, the number the call came from and roughly when it was.

The law is yours to check

Recording consent and AI-disclosure laws differ from state to state, and some states require every party’s consent. The notice at the top of every call is how BlueCollar is built; whether it is enough for a given business in a given state is a question for that business’s own counsel. Have them approve how your calls are handled before you turn the line on.

The live demo line is a real line

The demo line, (720) 307-7060, is a real BlueCollar tenant’s line running the same receptionist. It plays the same notice, and a call to it is handled exactly as this page describes.
